Just a reminder that George Takei is a legitimate primary source on how fascist governments operate, seeing as how he's been fighting against systemic fascism his entire life. First, interned imprisoned in a US concentration camp as a young boy, simply for being a Japanese-American. Then later in acting, he fought against racist typecasting. During that time he also has continued to fight against discrimination based on sexual preference.
It's not a "sit down you out-of-touch celebrity" moment. It's a "please give me your perspective" kind of moment. This man has lived with and fought against fascism his entire life.
I briefly met Takei after one of his performances of "Allegiance" in a theater, he is the quintessential example of a good human being.
