I had a teacher give me a zero on an assignment for using the wrong writing utensil, claiming that in college they don’t accept that kind of mess up. Turns out in college you can practically take a shit on a desk and nobody gives a fuck.
At my school the teachers for 7th grade were also the teachers for 8th grade. The English teacher absolutely hated me. I could check my grades online and lots of homework assignments were graded well and a few weren't. Tests and quizzes were usually high but I could never pull the overall grade in the class above a D. I got sick and had to miss a day or two of school. Well she gave a homework assignment and the students that actually made it to class knew what to do. She didn't want us to follow the instructions in the book but to follow hers. Well I didn't know about her special instructions because they weren't written on the assignment or the absence sheet every teacher gets so they know students are absent and to tell them what the homework is. So I had no idea and did it the way the book said. When I turned it in when I got back, I got an F with a note that said I didn't follow her instructions and I would have to re do. But she never gave me her instructions again even after I asked and I re-did it according to the book again. She gave me a D so I'd pass the assignment but I got my ass chewed for not following directions.
I have a memory from school that I'll never stop being bothered by.
Had an assignment to write a 3 page essay on what lead to the start of WW1. Now what I will say here is so stupid I doubt you'll even believe me but I handed in a 3 page essay on what lead to the start of WW1 and I got the lowest passing grade with the comment "wrote too detailed about what lead to the start of WW1".
It pissed me off the the degree where I still have that essay saved because I know no one will believe it even happened unless I show them the dumb fucking comment.
Eventually I got that grade changed though, because when it was time for me to get my final grade in History A (course name) I ended up missing out on what amounts to an A due to that essay. Asked for a meeting with the vice-principal, that teacher and another history teacher to protest the grading. Took something like 5 minutes and they forced her to change the grade.
Even though it was corrected I will still forever be bothered by that grading. What absolute horseshit. Just makes me wonder how many times you got a grade you maybe didnt deserve based on either favoritism or dislike from the teacher.
