Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with the “polite” folks? It’s bizarre to me how quiet & uncomfortable people get. How they shut down & immediately create the blame game even when its not even relevant. I’d like to learn to make it a more welcome conversation, if that’s at all possible. I feel like I take it pretty easy & lightly in the first place but it’s worth a shot to see if there are better ways

I'm not too sure here. I don't run and cower whenever politics are brought up, but it's not a conversation I enjoy having with people. Too often in my experience, political conversation turns into people trying to "destroy" or "beat" one another in an argument, which defeats the purpose of discussion/debates in the first place. But in saying all of that, I make sure I think first, and ensure I go out and vote. I don't have to like politics to know the power of voting. I'm fine with people not liking political discussion but when the time comes, vote. That simple.

Also side note it is not just white people that are quiet. I see it when people provide the rational that "both sides don't care about us so why bother?" We gotta dead that shit too. We need to encourage a generation of people who are actually representative of the people, and who care enough about people, to run.

I mean, some people just don't like confrontation. My sister and niece are big into conspiracy theories, and I have no desire to engage them in discussion regarding them because it won't accomplish anything. I think not taking vaccinations is dangerous and stupid, but my logical arguments won't mean shit in the face of her internet "research". She found her way into those terrible opinions, so she's going to have to find her way back out.
