I'm perplexed that Biden is even doing debates.
Debates don't introduce policy or political platforms. They are performative and thus favor theatrics.
Unless he's gonna go heavily on the offensive Biden has so much to lose.

I think the far larger group of individuals are those who haven’t decided whether or not to vote in general yet

There are still undecided voters, or voters that who consume very little media, or voters who primary see fox news and get to spend some time outside of their bubble during the debate. This might matter, every vote counts. (In certain states)
