Actually, that's just the visible part. The mushroom is underground, and has probably been growing a long time. It just pushed up this fruiting body to distribute it's spores.
In other words, this is just a 24-hour fungal erection, and you're posting it all over the internet. I hope you're happy with your life choices. (You should be. It's a fine mushroom. I like that it looks like it has two little eyes staring at that stalk of grass in the foreground.)
