Cause they already know the answer. You also know the answer. You're both just sitting there, awkwardly knowing the answer, together, until you say, "No. Sorry. I totally forgot."
If you want to make someone anxious, send them a message out of the blue that says, "Hey did you do that thing I asked you to do? It's important." Then just put your phone in airplane mode for a while.
