Trump supporters are fighting an internal battle externally. They project all their "bad" qualities that they cannot accept about themselves onto the perceived enemy group, which is anybody who threatens the perceived superiority of their false "good" self. Trump is this false "good" self personified. They are Narcissus and Trump is the reflection in the water they can't look away from. Thats why during this presidency, nothing matters except protecting the orange image at all costs. Even if it means killing their fellow Americans.
Can we please stop saying that toxic masculinity is based on pent up gayness? Being insecure about your sexuality does not make you an asshole and not all assholes are insecure about their sexuality. Assholes are assholes regardless.
