This is SO true. When I was teaching preschool, another teacher came in to serve them lunch and told my whole class of THREE year olds that they needed to eat and could not talk.

As a student myself, it is very strange to ask if you can use your bathroom in your own house but other then that it’s ok I guess

I must be lucky, my kids' school doesn't make them ask for bathroom breaks and every interaction I overhear is super wholesome and builds confidence in the teachers.

I'm a teacher in Portugal. I can't tell a kid what he can or can't do when he is in his own house. Who the hell am I? It's all about respect tho. Wanna go to the bathroom? Just warn me you're going to. Wanna snack for a bit? Wait until I'm finished and I'm letting you all go for a snack. Wanna grab your charger or whatever? Feel free as long as you don't take 10 minutes and distract somebody. If you respect kids, they'll often respect you back. This teacher was being hella stupid
