My son snuck a tooth under his pillow without telling anyone at one point. He was VERY distressed to find it still there in the morning.
The next night the Tooth Fairy came through. In addition to a reasonable payment for the tooth she left a short note explaining that she had been stuck under a thimble the previous evening. The note was so tiny that we needed a magnifying glass to read it. Looks like they've upgraded at Tooth Fairy central.
My youngest daughter lost a tooth on the evening we made the decision to put our 19 year old, very sick kitty down. I was an emotional wreck so the “tooth fairy” forgot to visit. I left for the vet the next morning early, before said child woke up. My older daughter’s boyfriend came over and was there when my littlest realized the tooth was still under her pillow. Thinking fast, he said it was on the previous night’s news that the tooth fairy’s website crashed and all deliveries were delayed! Pulled my fat out of the fire!

Start ‘em with the final notices early and they won’t freak out when they’re young adults. Absolutely beautiful.
