On defunding the police, we can probably get rid of the Internal Affairs Bureau. They're not there to help us, they're there to cover their own boys. Just get rid of them. If you really miss them here - "We investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong." -read that whenever you feel the need.
It's laughable when people suggest the key to stopping cop corruption is to just get a few good ones to speak up. As if, 1) they're not hiring a "type"/ training them to be in their image out of the academy, 2) the corruption doesn't start from the top, and 3) some veteran cop will listen to a new guy who comes in trying to be moral when the vet's been doing dirt for years. It's a fraternity with no intention of adjusting their bylaws. You either fit in with the crowd the way they are, or you're out.
