For anyone else in this situation, you can buy surgery suits, which are designed to stop cats and dogs from licking wounds on their body.
When I took her in to be spayed I asked the vet about the suit I had bought, just in case they were a con. She said it was better than a cone and took it from me to put her in immediately after surgery.
