Duh, everyone who really occupy themselves with firefighting knows about controlled fires to prevent bigger fires later, it’s been a practice for centuries

That being said, I can understand why they would want the practice under management of professional firefighters rather than individuals who don’t have the means to fight an out of control fire

I live in California and controlled burns are a fairly regular thing for the wild area. I've never heard of a ban on it. It's difficult and costs a lot but I've never heard of a ban before.

Who would have thought that trees that evolved to take advantage of periodic fires evolved in a place that periodically catches fire whether you like it or not.
