This is like the 3rd escaped tortoise I've heard about in the last week, what's going on people?

My tortoise got out once, gardener left the gate open on a Friday, I didn’t notice til Sunday, dude was GONE. Looked up and down the street for him, nowhere to be found. Heartbroken, I put some pictures up on a Facebook lost animals page for my town in hopes someone would see him. This was close to Thanksgiving.

In JANUARY I got a message from someone “hey, I think I found your tortoise.” We talked, compared pictures, sure enough it was him. Shell markings matched and everything. I drove almost 6 miles out to get him, and I knew it immediately was my dude. I was ecstatic. Somehow over the months he had walked to the next town, crossed a highway, and was just waddling down the side of the road and this lady thought to pick him up and put him in her backyard, found my post and called me over. She was so relieved cause she didn’t know what to feed him and he had taken over the doghouse.

Obstinate little fucker got out again a few weeks later, but the neighbor called me over cause they heard something rustling in the bushes behind their house. Yep, it was him again. I still have him, and his adopted sister. They’re the most ridiculous animals I’ve ever owned, but I love them and hope they outlive me. Cowabunga.
