I have a similar story happened to me when I was about 13 or 14. Three kids no food in the apartment at all. Called my parents because I didn't know what to do. They came over with milk cereal peanut butter jelly bread. Bags of food. I didn't always get along with my dad but I absolutely adored him for doing that

My wife traveled a lot (pre-covid) for work and usually flew first class and stayed at the nicest hotels (frequent traveler perks) and she’d always get those basic toiletry and grooming kits.... so one day I see a few in the car and I ask her “what are these for?” and her reply was “I give them to homeless people I see”. I never knew...

Pretty sure in England it's classed as a human right and even if you don't pay your water bill, nobody can turn it off. Ever.
