We had a worker work for two days around 40 to 50 coworkers but she wore a mask and washed her hands as well as her coworkers . 0 other people infected .

I always thought the "I don't wear a mask to protect me; I wear a mask to protect you" was kind of bullshit. Certainly it's true - but it also protects the wearer.

Half of Americans are too selfish to do something if it only benefits someone else. So it's too bad they were lied to about how masks would protect themselves.

Translation:

The number of COVID-19 cases linked to a Starbucks in Paju, South Korea, has increased to 56 people. However, it has been found that no workers were infected.

On the second floor, 30-year-old A stayed inside the Starbucks for two hours, transmitting the virus to 56 more people inside.

The fast spread is not surprising given that there were six air conditioners on the second floor.

The four workers all tested negative. Why?

The reason is simple:

The workers, despite going to both the first and the second floor numerous number of times, wore their KF94 masks throughout the entirety of their shift.

Experts say this must have been the reason why they all tested negative. When wearing a mask, the amount of germs that can enter the mouth is highly unlikely.

Experts in South Korea highly advise people to wear a mask whenever they possibly can.

If you want to read the original article, the automatic translation is surprisingly very accurate.

South Korea is not locked down. Therefore, cafes, restaurants, and stores are all open, and people can eat or drink inside. That's the difference – customers took their mask off to eat/drink, workers kept it on. This further proves the importance of wearing a mask, people. This event also shows how dangerous air conditioners can be in the event that an infected person is in the same vicinity as you. IIRC, the first patient in Wuhan spread it to others via air conditioning even though they were more than 6 feet away. South Korea is steaming hot and humid in the summers, so the air conditioners are always on during this time of the year. Therefore, summertime is likely to lead to more spikes in Asia.

South Koreans use KF94 masks instead of a regular surgical mask. KF94 masks are much more protective than regular masks and are equivalent to that of the N95 mask here in America. They have been shown to be 8-12 times more protective than a regular surgical mask if droplets do indeed land on the mask.

IMPORTANT EDIT: For those of you who are asking whether the workers are immune, door touching or high-contact surfaces could have been a factor, or whether the workers were protected in some way vs. the customers:

More articles posted recently have more information about this outbreak now. This article states the son of two parents who visited the second floor to use the bathroom came out positive with COVID-19. The parents, who stayed in the first floor the whole time, tested negative. This shows that the method of transmission is mainly via recirculation, not through door touching or otherwise.
