LPT This trick works great even if it is just your buddy and not SO. Can also really help to bleed out the time if there is a limit for questions.

I did this with a friend of mine when he did his Ph.D. defense. His advisor (who eventually became my boss) was impressed with me, and the panel was impressed with him.
