My uncle just found out this evening that all of his kois that he took care for 6 years all died due to a power outage that happened last night when everyone was sleeping.
Back when I was a pet sitter, I did a consult for a man with a koi pond. He walked me through their detailed care, and made a point to show me how to get the pump going again if it seized. He had thought of everything and made me a list.
The first day of his trip, I went to his house and found almost all the koi had been eaten by raccoons. They were mangled all over the lawn. That was an awkward phone call.
