My wife and I went back in 2016. We had the very first reservation of the day, so we basically got off the redeye and drove right to the lagoon.

It was fantastic. Definitely pricey, especially considering how other geothermal spas are free (with a decent drive), but the luxury was a huge plus.

If you can afford it I highly recommend one of the private suites.

You and your partner have your own bathroom/shower/changing room and access to a separate room with a fireplace, coffee, lounge chairs, etc. with private direct access to the lagoon. Think of it like a half indoor pool, where they just built the suite area over part of the lagoon so you never have to waddle out in the cold to get into the water. We got to watch the sunrise from it, which was neat.

You also don't have to wait in line, and it included lunch, which was fantastic. I had the leg of lamb, which rivaled some of the Michelin star restaurants I've eaten at.

I think it was about $275 USD each at the time--but if I recall correctly prices have skyrocketed even more there. Honestly well worth it, though.

That’s insane, it simultaneously looks like the hottest and coldest place on the planet

There is a smaller blue lagoon spring on the north end of the island that is way cheaper, less crowded and the exact same thing! I get that this one is close to where most people fly into but if you’re doing a road trip around the whole country, look into other options!
