Remember 2 years ago when Mitch shortened the recess because he didn't want the Democrats to go out and do campaigning under the guise of "We've got too much work to do!"

People are dying but that's not worth shortening the recess.

Normally I would point out that legislating in Washington is only a portion of a member of Congress' job. Normally I would mention that meeting with constituents and working on their requests are as big a deal as many floor votes. Normally I would also mention that while campaigning isn't the prettiest part of a member's job, it is necessary if they want to continue to have a chance to pursue any of their higher policy goals.

But the middle of a goddamn pandemic when we're all waiting desperately for an extension of the CARES Act, while the Postal Service is being gutted right before the largest mail-in voting election ever is not a normal fucking time. So yeah, I agree.
