They immigrated to the US 25 years ago from India. Starting life completely over in a country where they didn’t have any advantages they earned in their previous life, working long days and nights, all so I might have a chance at a better life.

I couldn’t be any more thankful to them, and couldn’t happier that they finally achieved this milestone.

PS: They had no need to wait so long to get their citizenships, we just do stuff super slow in my family.

Edit:

Here’s my dad enjoying his Reddit fame!

Edit 2:

Thank you Reddit! I was a bit bummed that my parents didn’t get to attend the full ceremony of Naturalization due to Covid, but everyone’s love, support and well wishing here really made them feel special about their special day!

They will be registering to vote this week, and look forward to voting in the upcoming elections.

To everyone expressing their condolences, thank you too. You’re expressing care in another way, and that’s also appreciated.

My parents and I love our adopted country as much as we love our birth country, and we’re grateful to get to live here in the US as a part of it.

Edit 3:

My mom was trying not to laugh at one of my dad’s jokes, she was super happy the whole time! another picture!

Quintessential “embarrassingly happy Indian father.” I bet you the mother looks so unimpressed because he just laid down an epic dad joke.
