Every employee at this Sonic location quit because the new owners lowered their pay to “$4 per hour, plus tips”. But fast food workers never get tipped, so how is this even legal?? Shame on the new owners

I had that gig back in 2013. It was 2.50 plus tips as a carhop. If I hadn't skated, I never would have made enough to cover minimum wage, and the new hires who chose not to skate never did. If they didn't quit, they'd be let go.

It was a shit gig - there wasn't even an option to tip on credit card orders. Still don't understand how that shit was/is legal.

I stayed about a year because I was playing roller derby at the time and all the extra practice made me prime roster picks for the all stars. So at least there's that.

Good for them. Hopefully that sonic location will go under.

I really wonder what goes through the Management's head with situations like this. Like, does that extra four bucks saved paying your workers really matter when you lose your entire workforce? You just lost all your profits regardless.

I don't think big business realizes that workers that are cared for perform better and stick around to keep working come past a few months.
