Destroying the postal service will mostly affect rural areas. Urban areas subsidize rural areas for mail delivery. The USPS operates at a loss there and they are UPS and FedEx last mile provider in many areas.
Has this already happened? Ive been waiting something like 5 days for the city distro center to put 3 parcels on a truck and send them the 20miles to my local post office.

In the article, it states that he has a substantial incentive to gut the USPS: "DeJoy is the first postmaster in two decades without prior experience in the United States Postal Service. DeJoy's appointment was controversial because DeJoy and his wife have assets between $30.1 million and $75.3 million in USPS competitors or contractors, such as UPS and trucking company J.B. Hunt."
