The napoleon one kinda makes sense to believe though.

When he was alive, the French used the same names for different units of measure. By the modern standard, he was 5’7”, and it was the same by contemporary English standards. But a French inch was longer, so by his native standards, he was 5’2”.

The English heard that, and basically used it as a propaganda thing.
