This is also probably why Luke was able to turn his father. His emotions were genuine and he had life experience to pull from before he began training. Also his prefrontal cortex was completely developed already when he began training.

More like because the older you are the more likely it is that you have emotional baggage that's going to affect your approach to the Force.
