r/ULPT steal people's card and leave huge tips for servers. When people call and say they didn't make this purchase, most times banks just pay it and take the loss because they don't want to acknowledge how little security cards actually have.

Before this starts another debate about credit vs debit let’s remind people to all guard their debit card with their lives and not give it out unless you have to (like some cash apps that might need one to send money back to you as it works both ways)

It’s a great idea to use a credit card because it isolates your funds and fraud like this becomes the bank’s problem and not yours. Even if they decide in your favor you’re out the money until you discover it and they resolve it. It also builds your credit. So if it sucks get a secured one from your bank. This is a $600 or so deposit they refund and your bank means you can easily set it to auto pay the statement balance when it’s due.

If you really love just having a debit card then for God’s sake just use one of these for shopping and leave that card somewhere safe: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_card

You probably don’t wanna be negative for any period of time on your balance. It’s dangerous and stressful.
