I remember reading a message board comment saying that expecting your D&D game to turn out like Critical Role is like expecting real-life sex to turn out like porn.
There was a recent post on players expecting "professional level" dungeon mastering and the DM saying "sure, if you bring professional level player work". Tit for tat. The DM themselves doesn't make for a good game no matter how good they are. If anyone's expecting me to be Matt Mercer then I'm expecting them to be Sam Riegel.
