Notice his emphasis on the word compliance. A week or so ago, I read an article from an attorney who had worked in a DA's office. He talked about how the police expected them to show respect at all times and not ask questions, even when the story was not believable. Many people in the office would leave the investigation folder on a table and then go get a coffee so that the officer(s) would have time to get their story straight. Failure to take this approach was career limiting.

I also remember the story a few years ago of the Albuquerque DA who filed charges against a cop who killed a civilian. The police started to openly harass her including parking outside of her home. She ended up not running for office again.

Cops feel that they're above the law and until that changes, we won't have meaningful reform. If they will actively harass the DA, imagine what they'll do to you.
