About 8 years ago, I worked at STEAK N SHAKE. (I was going to be coy and not name them, but fuck it. Why would I give a shit?) In my state, minors must stop working by 10 pm, and can work no longer than 8 hours at a time. Our managers would have minors clock out and continue to work when they were supposed to be off, and most of them did because they didn’t know any better or were afraid of getting in trouble. If I was working, I always made them leave after they clocked out and finished up any sidework/tables they might have had left and put their tips to the side for them. Had multiple managers yell at me for doing this, because they were depending on the unpaid labor of children to keep the restaurant running smoothly.

Let's not forget minimum wage too. Someone paying you minimum wage is basically saying "I'd pay you less but there are laws against it"
