I had to pull my dead car into a McDs parking lot and this guy sitting on his bike eating noticed me looking in my hood. He offered to help and insisted he could get it done. We walked to a nearby Auto parts store and got a new belt and tool, went back and he fixed it for me! He would NOT take any cash. He was an angel placed there for me after such a terrible week where nothing has gone right. (ALL YOU CAR GENIUSES WHO SAY HE’S NOT WORKING ON MY BELT LMAO EXPLAIN THIS https://youtu.be/QBI1S8WoZ0A I have a Mazda 6)

When I was a kid, I was with my dad when he helped out two old ladies whose car was stopped along the roadside. He jacked up the car and changed a flat tire (using their spare).

As we were about to leave, one of the ladies stuck a crumpled $20 bill into my hand. (This was in the ‘70s, so $20 was a lot more than it is now.)

When I told my dad later about the money, he was upset. He told me they had offered him money and he had refused to accept it. He said people should help others out of kindness, not for any type of reward. I’ve remembered that lesson and have followed it when helping strangers.

Got stranded with a dead battery at a gas station around 3 am one time when a total stranger helped jumpstart my truck. He refused any payment, told me to keep the jumper cables and said, "just pay it forward."

Two years later I was able to help out an unkown lady stuck at Walmart with the same move and it felt great.
