Ironic because the left would be far more likely to discuss the US's history without whitewashing or entirely omitting shameful events.

TIL about the Daughters of the Confederacy, wives and daughters of confederate soldiers and generals who, after the Civil War, enacted a massive, prolonged propaganda campaign. They erected statues and monuments to confederate generals, pushing textbooks into schools with their version of history, setting up youth activity groups where children where taught about "Northern aggression" and how good the slaves had it. The effects of which are still felt in America today.

But yes, let us talk about who is rewriting US history.

Edit: Spelling. And since this blew up, another point I've wanted to make for a while; slavery as a practice ended but slavery as an institution did not and is alive today. The South may have lost the war but their hearts were at no point changed. They simply went underground. Every legal or cultural aggression today, from employers demanding black people cut their "dirty" locs to one polling station for multiple districts of black residents to cops murdering without consequences, is part of the institution of slavery carried on since long before the Civil War.
