I never care about my birthday before it happens and also feel weird/egotistical planning my own party or get together, and yet, without fail, every single time it gets to finally be the day I'm really sad that I'm not doing anything or that nothing's going on for it. A friend basically forced me to do something when I turned 26 this past year and it felt really nice to celebrate and have friends around
My boyfriend of 3.5 years forgot my 26th birthday this year and even though I have never liked making a big fuss for my birthday, I was actually pretty sad. It’s not that we’re trying to appear more mature, its just less about the amount of attention we get and more about getting the attention from the people it matters most from. I love a birthday card from grandma and flowers from my sweetie. That’s all I need. Maybe a favorite meal for dinner too, lol.
