In 12 Monkeys (1995) Director Terry Gilliam was afraid that Brad Pitt wouldn't be able to pull off the nervous, rapid speech. He sent him to a speech coach but in the end he just took away Pitt's cigarettes, and Pitt played the part exactly as Gilliam wanted.

Now that I think about it, if he's been smoking for this long -- what skincare routine does he have? Seriously. He's looked good forever. Can't all be makeup.

I ask because every lifelong smoker I know just has the nicotine seeping through their pores and their teeth go grey.
