I've been many places around the world, they think our president is an idiot or they see only the worst of America because of the news. Most, if not all of my encounters have been positive though.

Then again most the time somebody asks me what my opinions are about Trump I usually respond with "Fuck Trump" and they'll but me another drink. Only once did I meet an older Canadian couple who seemed to like him back in 2016. They thought he was bringing up good topics.

I don’t think Americans are dumb asses. I don’t think Chinese people are evil....their governments on the other hand...

I’m not only an American, but a Floridian (Florida is not popular for our rich cultural heritage, or vibrant tech community — particularly simulation tech — or strong state university system...yet somehow everyone knows about our god damned meth addicts who like to try to fuck wildlife).

It’s not that we’re dumb. Well, not all of us at least. Many of us are literate, reasoned, cultured, critical, serious-minded. Certainly we’re comparable to other nations, who have their own share of morons.

It’s that we’re so loud...so fucking loud. Obnoxiously loud. I don’t know what happened over the last fifty years, but we lost of semblance of decorum and shame. Maybe we never had it...but at least our leaders were capable of showing signs they were raised properly. Say what you will about Reagan or Bush (Sr.) or even Clinton...they had class.

There used to be a filter. The backwoods moron that used to collect firearms and canned tomatoes and had vile, vile beliefs was confined to some ramshackle cabin he built in the middle of some unknown wilderness in Montana.

Now he’s in Congress and has an active Twitter account where he shares his thoughts about why Bill Gates manufactured our crisis so he can implant us with microchips that make us crave KFC chicken fortnightly. He has followers.

We’re not dumb...but the dumbest Americans have cranked the volume way up, and it’s really hard for the rest of us to get heard.
