I remember seeing the tabloid headlines accompanying this picture and they said "Take That!"

What a family friendly way of saying "Fuck You, Charles"

I very much remember where I was when I heard about the crash and then the back and forth as to whether she would live through the surgery.

The first time I ever saw my grandmother crying was when princess Diana died. I remember her trying to vacuum the floor and the tears were just falling. I remember asking “Nana what’s wrong!” I was 14 at the time, disliked the royal family and a typical Scottish kid. Up to no good. Years later I watched interviews with Diana about all the charity project she did in Africa, the land mines and how brave she was in all the media circus around her. I remember once watching an interview with her and she nearly cried as she tried to explain her situation and I could never forget how genuine, sincere, faithful and courageous a woman she was. It made me sad to think I was the same age as her son William and more so to watch the funeral live on tv as her children walked beside the carriage.

I am 38 now. When ever Diana appears on tv or in the media I am reminded of my grandmother who always said “Only do what your heart tells you.” It was only a couple of years ago I realized my nana had been quoting Diana every-time she gave advice or wanted to encourage me to be my true self.
