Someone forever ago on Reddit coined the term “Skyler Syndrome” and I’m disappointed it didn’t catch on

I fucking haaaaaate that male leads are often significantly less attractive than their females and we're also supposed to accept a 10-20 year age gap. It happens so often. Even in that stupid Eurovision movie that just came out. In what fucking world is Rachel McAdams desperately in love with will Ferrell? Why can't they have a female lead closer to his age and appearance?

I spent the entirety of my teenage years worried I had some internal misogyny going on and that there was something wrong with me. It wasn’t until my mid-20s that I realized nothing was wrong with me and that the vast majority of female characters - especially from 15-20 years ago - are simply poorly written.
