Beautiful picture. Now, time to find a post that makes me feel less...how I feel while looking at this picture.

A giraffe in Blijdorp Zoo gives a terminal patient a touching final greeting. "One more time to Blijdorp." That was the wish of the terminal patient from Alkmaar to whom the Ambulance Wish Foundation could contribute on Thursday.

The Foundation has fulfilled over 6,000 wishes since 2007.

They provide a variety of wishes, for example, a 75-year-old woman with ALS who was a lifelong lover of art a trip to see Rembrandt paintings.

I work at a large zoo in the US that happens to be extremely close to a huge medical center and we have an annual “Dream Night” every year where we only open to terminally ill children and their families. The zoo goes all out, everything is free (food, carousel rides, giraffe feeding) and we have a ton of ambassador animals out for them to interact with, and usually a smattering of superheroes and princess also roaming the zoo taking photos with the kids. The kids always have an amazing time, but man, it’s a hard event to work without getting choked up at least a couple of times during the night.
