Putting a space between thermometer made me pronounce it Thermo-Meter in my head... which i guess isn’t wrong

Last year my laptop cpu was starting to overheat (105 celsius) so I suspected I needed to reapply thermal paste since it was several years old. I had no experience doing something like this and I ended up having to take the entire laptop apart just to reach the cpu. Paranoia set in about halfway through and I started worrying that I’d somehow broke it. Reassembled it and it ran perfectly with temps only reaching 90 celsius under max load and averaging 70s/80s.

A small victory, but a victory nonetheless. Plus the confidence boost felt great and really made me eager to build my own PC at some point

If you can’t get a first degree burn off the vent, something’s wrong with your laptop.
