I used to like such jokes. But when your daughter finally decides to introduce her boyfriend to parents, you don't want the first contact to already be adversarial. Especially after you've been sharing these jokes to your daughter who will be scared to introduce him.
So, I told my daughters that I trusted their judgement, that they knew their boyfriend better than me and that was enough for me to greet them as a family member. Of course, I'll still be ready to fight for my kids but that won't be my first thought.
