Elizabeth Warren called on Attorney General Bill Barr to resign after the Justice Department’s botched attempt to push out U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman, whose office is investigating members of President Trump’s inner circle.

“This is a naked abuse of power. I’ve already called for AG William Barr to resign & for Congress to impeach him. Congress should pass my bill now to defund Barr’s authority to interfere with matters related to Trump, his family, & his campaign,” Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat and former presidential candidate, tweeted Saturday.

Warren shared a link to a New York Times article that reported Berman is refusing to step down.

Since taking the job in January 2018, Berman oversaw the prosecution of former Trump fixer Michael Cohen and has been investigating Rudy Giuliani, the president’s attorney and confidante. He is also reportedly investigating Deutsche Bank loans to the Trump organization and the financing of the president’s 2017 inaugural.

After Barr announced Berman’s departure in a news release late Friday, the Manhattan prosecutor told the world he wasn’t going anywhere.

“I learned in a press release from the Attorney General tonight that I was ‘stepping down’ as United States Attorney,” Berman said in a statement posted to the Southern District of New York’s Twitter account. “I have not resigned, and have no intention of resigning, my position, to which I was appointed by the Judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.”

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

This right here is all you need in order to know why Trump and Barr want him gone.

Article II of the Constitution grants Congress the right to impeach his ass

Edit: Specifically, Article II, Section 4, which reads:

The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

The whole reason Trump picked Barr as AG is because he will do whatever Trump wants him to do and never be shamed into resigning.
