Ever since my first job at 16 that rule sounded so fucking suspicious.

Like, I once found out someone else was doing half the work I was but getting more pay and brought it up to my boss. Eventually now I make more than him, but, was threatened that if the company finds out I disclosed my earnings, I'd never get another one.

In case anyone ever encounters an employer who tells them this:

The National Labor Relations Act protects employees’ rights to discuss conditions of employment, such as safety and pay even if you’re a non-union employer. The NLRB calls these discussions “protected concerted activity” and defines them as when employees “take action for their mutual aid or protection regarding terms and conditions of employment.”

You do not have to be a Union Member for this to apply. This applies to every worker in the country.

So, go get what you’re worth.
