To give people credit: the whole tax haven/ shell company/ off-shoring system by which immense quantities of money just disappear into untraceable streams is so vast and complicated just following one particular strand is something courts are held up with for years trying to solve. That is by design and it rarely boils to light giving people headaches in the process. It is estimated that the amount of cash stored in offshore accounts is about as much as the combined GDP of China and the US. A good primary read on the matter would be ‘Moneyland’ by Oliver Bulloghs who tries to give a structural analysis of this shadow economy combined with some stories of how his efforts to research it get frustrated at every corner. Consider this vast amount of funds and the rapidly expanding private security/ mercenary sector and it’s hard to not go full doomer

So the richest most powerful people in the world were caught doing bad things and somehow nothing came of it? Huh.

Remember how this is posted every three months and then the top comment is always someone else posting about how something DID actually happen?
