We the taxpayers have been swindled into supporting large corporations and aristocrats since at least the 1860s, when railroads and banks received tax breaks, free land, and low-interest loans. We can trace economic injustice back to the Constitutional Convention at Philadelphia in 1787, when wealthy bankers and planters fettered democratic republicanism to protect their economic statuses.
Class warfare and plutocracy are not new. They are written into America’s political DNA.
