DON'T TOUCH IT. That's an "angler cherry." Similar to an angler fish, they lure in prey by flashing a good looking bait cherry only to gobble up hungry gullible people. Be careful!

When a tree flowers right on the trunk like that, it's called cauliflory! I see it in my area most commonly with redbud trees (Cercis canadensis) but apparently it's common with jackfruit and papaya, too.
