My mom has needed hearing aids for years but my family always just talked louder to compensate. About a year ago she out of the blue says "I think I need hearing aids because everyone on TV mumbles and I can't hear them anymore". She finally get them and we're going out to dinner, first night out wearing them and asks what is clicking? My family looks at each other and my dad responds (who is driving) the blinker? My mom replies "oh my God they still do that? I thought they took that feature away years ago!"
This reminds me of when I first got glasses after badly needing them for years. Every little thing was amazing, like individual leaves on trees and being able to tell people apart from more than a few feet away.
