I remember surfing for the second time in my life, it was in Mamala Bay off the coast of Hawaii, with a reef about 2 feet underneath the surface for a good portion of the surf-able waves. A gigantic sea turtle came up for air about two feet away from my board, and it sounded like a human gasping for air as it came up. After it snuck up on me like that, my fear of being attacked by a shark was eliminated knowing I had no chance.
