As a father of an autistic son, I really hope I can put this picture up one day. :-)

This is amazing, I hope he gets the job. As a father of a child who has Down syndrome and as someone who has co-workers who also have down syndrome, I have to say people with disabilities are the best workers. No one tries harder and cares more and comes to work with a smile more often than them. Everyone has a bad moment or day but my son and co-workers are constantly reminding me how it easy it can be to make work a fun thing and to just live in the moment.

For employers out there: find a agency in your area that tries to place people like him into jobs. If you find the right match between job and employee (you may need to have a few that don't work out before you find a match). You run a great chance of having one of the most hard working and happy employees who will love their job. Do be fair, though. Do not take advantage of them should go without saying, but be honest with the agency if they are not the right fit as well. The goal is for the person to find meaningful work after all.

I worked at a company that did this. One employee who I believe had Down's was an office mail boy. Mikey was an absolute joy to cross in the hallway with his giant smile and honest hello's and "have a nice day"'s. The highlight of many of the secretaries (who were often seated in groups) days was Mikey coming by with his mail cart and starting with the nicest "hellooo, ladies" and then chatting them up for a few minutes, or sometimes a half hour as the staff would indulge his in whatever the subject of the day was.
