When I was in school much of this we learned in home economics. The rest my parents taught me. They no longer teach these or even touch on these things in school. If you’re not in tune or close to your child you don’t know what they don’t know and what you need to teach them. And there’s a huge disconnect with kids and parents anymore. It’s truly sad.

I have an overprotective mother who assumed I will be living with her my whole life and refused to teach me anything and forbade my dad from teaching me anything too.

Then, when I became an adult, she started to make fun of my lack of skills and how "young people these days" can only "click the computers."
