It's remarkably easy to remove them with a lighter. I bought a pair of pants and they left the tag on them. I only noticed like 20 minutes before I needed to go to a wedding, so I looked it up on youtube. It took like a minute, and I didn't get dye all over everything. Basically you just melt off the top of the "bump", and a spring and ball bearing come out, which releases the locking mechanism.
