Erling Haaland has dismissed Neymar’s attempt to mock him and thanked the Brazilian superstar and his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates for bringing attention to meditation.

Neymar and the PSG squad took aim the young striker following their triumph over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League after incorrectly believing Haaland had declared Paris was ‘his city.

The fake Snapchat picture riled Neymar and the forward mocked Haaland by copying his now famous ‘zen’ celebration.

PSG stars did the pose during and after the game and were heavily criticised for making fun of the 19-year-old.

But Haaland brushed off the jibes, telling ESPN he was not bothered by Neymar’s antics.

‘No, not really,’ Haaland said when asked if he was upset by the mocking.

‘I think they helped me a lot to get meditation out in the world and to show the whole world that meditation is an important thing so I’m thankful that they helped me with that.’

It emerged after the Champions League tie that Neymar had planned the revenge on Haaland before the match.

A Snapchat picture with a fake caption infuriated Neymar and the attacker continued to aim swipes at Haaland on social media.

PSG have not played since their victory over Dortmund due to the coronavirus pandemic and were handed the Ligue 1 title on Thursday after the rest of their league campaign was called off.

France have banned sporting events until September and the Premier League may be forced to follow Ligue 1’s lead if the lockdown in the UK continues.

I think PSG would've gotten less criticism if they just did it once. They were going mental, they did it like a dozen times between scoring, winning, celebrating and going back to the locker room.
