I'm a single dad to three kids. I want to fucking scream and cry at the same time some days. I always appreciated schools and teachers but god damn this took it to a whole new level.

Edit: some days things go great too, just to clarify

There are some real silver linings in all of this. I'm not saying it's good... this fucking sucks, but when things start opening and getting back to normal again, I'm really going to miss this traffic.

I'm an essential worker, and my drive to and from work is amazing right now.

I am an elementary school teacher. I have received so many emails of gratitude, of praise, and of "teachers need to be paid more." It's really refreshing. Unfortunately I don't think the sentiments are going to stay after the crisis is over.

Edit: Wow that was a lot of messages.

Personally I'm not saying that I personally need a pay raise (not that I wouldn't mind it cuz y'know, life). Sometimes when you're a teacher you just feel invisible, until something goes wrong then it's your fault. For me though, everything I do is for those kids. Right now I'd teach for free if it meant just one day back in the classroom with them.
